Gala Hors d'Oeuvres
This is the easiest and most delicious hors d'oeuvres, or a super simple lunch! Best with fresh crisp gala apples, or something with similar sweet/tart balance.
Gala apples
Bleu cheese
Thinly sliced soprasetta
(or other spicy sausage - salami, pepperoni, chorizo, etc.)
Core and slice your apples into thin wedges. Arrange apples, crumbled or sliced cheese, and slices of sausage on a platter (see image below for one presentation). To eat, simply wrap a piece of apple and cheese together in the sausage, or if you're really ambitious, pre-wrap them all and skewer with toothpics (I prefer letting people wrap their own - the apples stay fresher longer and it's kinda fun!). This platter served a family reunion, and I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. Simple and delicious.
